Marina Tabassum
Marina Tabassum is a Bangladeshi architect and educator who has received numerous international recognitions in the field of architecture, designing in tune with nature and embracing the design challenges posed by the environment, including the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, the Soane Medal, Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (France) and most recently the Vassilis Sgoutas Prize for Implemented Architecture Service the Impoverished.
Marina is also the founder and chairperson of Foundation for Architecture and Community Equity. Research on the effects of climate crisis and preparedness for the marginalized vulnerable population through architectural and environmental interventions are priorities of the foundations agenda, working with the communities to build mobile modular housing in various geographically and climatically challenged locations in Bangladesh.
Her process of work includes research, teaching and practice and is widely recognized as the twenty first century model of practice of architecture. She is currently the Norman R. Foster visiting Professor at Yale University and the Frank Gehry Visiting Chair at the University of Toronto, and teaches at prestigious universities around the world including Harvard University, Technical University Delft, University of Texas and BRAC University.
